Curriculum contd. We are keen to promote
the learning of science. Early Years children study life cycles
of plants and animals. Basic knowledge of their own bodies and
how they grow always creates a huge amount of interest. Older
children follow the National Curriculum with their qualified
and enthusiastic teacher. All pupils have lessons in singing and recorder, with individual private keyboard and singing lessons available on request. Weekly swimming lessons are compulsory for all children. All children are assessed on a regular basis and parents are kept informed of their child's progress through twice yearly reports. The younger children are expected to read every evening at home and older children have homework to reinforce classwork, creative writing or research information pertaining to class topics. The school is non-denominational but focus is mainly on the Christian religion which is taught through scripture lessons, assemblies, hymns and prayers. The children also study other main religions and this enables them to have respect and understanding for their own religion and culture and that of others.
